3 cups buttermilk
Soak at least 7 hours, covered. Then add:
1/3 cup melted butter
1/3 cup honey
2 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
Mill barley into an 8 cup liquid measure. Add buttermilk and stir to begin soaking the flour. Cover.
After about 6-8 hours, add melted butter, honey and egg. Whisk to combine. Add salt and baking soda.
Pour batter into a greased 9x13 pan and bake for about 25-30 minutes at 350℉.
Perfect as a snack, or alongside chili--similar to cornbread!
