Chametz

khorasan matzah We’ve just finished out the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and I’ve been ruminating The Word given in that time over the last week. 1 Timothy 4 warns us to steer clear of myths and fables, or nonsense traditions. While our Passover evening wasn't quite as "remembering" as I'd like in the future, I don’t want to recite Jewish prayers and blessings that are NOT giving credit to The Messiah and His fulfilling of this Feast. I want to do as He did—washing feet, drinking the cup and breaking the bread in remembrance of His atoning blood and flesh, and a traditional Haggadah does not admit that. Not only this, but we can see traces of Babylon in certain parts of a Seder plate, the egg and the charoset being most blatantly opposing the purity and simplicity. Thanks to Yah, I hadn’t even known of these things until we received the opportunity to host some very kind friends and neighbors to share our lamb with, who were more familiar with a Seder. Not all tradition

chaff & riffraff

Riffraff: "sweepings, refuse, things of small value" (mid-14c.), from Old French rif et raf, from rifler "to spoil, strip" (see rifle (v.)). Second element from raffler "carry off," related to rafle "plundering," or from raffer "to snatch, to sweep together" (from etymonline)  Why do you weigh out silver for what is not bread, and your labour for what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to Me, and eat what is good, and let your being delight itself in fatness. Isaiah 55:2 Growing up religious, we seemed to try to do everything "against the grain". I remember a science curriculum (Christian) that came with a CD of mediocre music, and one of the songs went like this: "If everybody does it, we don't. If everybody has it, we won't. If everybody's going, we'll go the other way. If everybody does it, we don't." (Ironically, "against the grain" is literally what everyone does now.) Kind of silly,

Power and Protection

This morning, as I thanked  יהוה ‎  for His perfect knowledge and order in knitting together the new person within my womb a scripture from Proverbs came to mind: “The Lord by wisdom founded the earth, By understanding He established the heavens.”  Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭19‬  Then this morning, the Spirit took me to Jeremiah, & I heard this echo:  “It is He who made the earth by His power, Who established the world by His wisdom; And by His understanding He has stretched out the heavens.”  Jeremiah‬ ‭10‬:‭12‬ ‭‬ As the only One competent and capable of creating the heavens and the earth, designed the human body in its completeness and all life and symbiotic relationships between every living thing, isn’t it preposterous to believe that He should need our supervision ensuring His work is good?  ““Woe to the one who quarrels with his Maker— An earthenware vessel among the vessels of earth! Will the clay say to the potter, ‘What are you doing?’ Or the thing you are making say, ‘He has no ha

Deceiving Spirits

How do we go about discerning between The Spirit and a deceiving spirit? The Word makes it clear that demonic spirits impersonate the Holy Spirit. For such are false emissaries, deceptive workers, masquerading as emissaries of Messiah. And no wonder! For Satan himself masquerades as a messenger of light! It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their works! 2 Cor 11:13-15 TS2009  I was taken by the Holy Spirit to Ezekiel 14 this morning. The words there rather left me speechless.  And some of the elders of Yisra’ĕl came to me and sat before me. And the word of יהוה came to me, saying, “Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their hearts, and have put the stumbling-block of their crookedness before their face. Should I let them inquire of Me at all? Ezekiel 14:1-3 These elders are respected men. They are coming to a known prophet of YHVH. They sit down and wait for him to speak. And what YHVH s

Christians will agree that sin is destructive. One might say that they are a bigot to say so. True? Someone might say "God doesn't hate anyone." Yes, true...God is Love. Yet One who truly, steadfastly, compassionately loves us defines what destroys us and instructs us how to avoid that. I had an awful nightmare last night. Awful. All day it's been playing in my head. We were in a beach house, with very high decks. All of my children piled out the door onto the deck...until I saw that there was MASSIVE, POWERFUL, TERRIFYING waters coiling, spilling around the side of the house, above the height of the deck and swirling around beneath it. In reality, the house never could have remained standing with the power of these waters. But as it was, I vehemently told all my children to scurry back inside. Already, boards of the deck were missing by the tearing of the waters. My oldest son did not listen to my husband. So my husband picked him up, dropped him in the gap where the

Truth or Tradition?

Seven years ago, our family began observing what we call Teshuah . I liked the seven letter word because it filled out my chalkboard calendar nicely. The third week in February, both in 2014 and in 2016, we were delivered out of very difficult situations. The first was a mortgage we couldn't pay for a house we couldn't afford to fix according to HOA standards and a commute we couldn't sustain. We now acknowledge that our difficulties stemmed from idolatry, coveting, and lack of discipline/wisdom. The second, a little house so full of mold that I had not been able to fully breathe in the two years we lived there, ending with a rat in the crawlspace which was only evacuated by a hot water leak that steamed up through a vent straight to the attic, condensing all that water over our belongings, which then molded. Masked, I threw out a massive portion of our baby things, crying and wondering what we should do. He provided. That's what. He moved us to the cape cod on Dellros

salt & light

There is not one part of life that is without the Word. The Word IS LIFE, so therefore all that possesses Life is able to instruct. Our Abba designed us with the power of perception, to receive what is not visible. No other creature is able to do this.  We've got a little farm here. I knew going into livestock that I would learn a bundle, and it wouldn't be easy. What IS easy, is getting stuck on the visible, and the knowledge that abounds fear. I want to reiterate this Word I received years ago. Knowledge which separates the visible from the invisible is idolatry. Idols create fear . Eidolon  simply means "what is seen." Aha. Farm life. As I was saying, it is always a temptation to step out of faith and into the influence of human knowledge. There is a lot of information out there on keeping and nourishing livestock. And on far too many occasions, I fall into this trap of wanting to know what I'm doing.  I forget the Author is always ready with wisdom to offer.
